Here's an idea, folks. Why doesn't one of us email the archive and claim that he owns the copyright to all of these films? Would the archive mindlessly take all of them down? If not, why not? They have taken down other public-domain films.

The DMCA mandates the removal of a contested work pending review, to preserve the archive's indemnity against a potential infringement claim. It's a clumsy system, but it's what is now in place. It's unfortunate that the DMCA process has not yet been amended to make it less susceptible to the fraudulent copyright claims that have been made against the feature film collections here.

Thanks for all of these, with particular thanks for "Pygmalion" and "Drums of Jeopardy." Both are longtime faves of mine.
